The Impossible Die Box by Richard Resor

The Impossible Die Box was invented by Richard Resor while working at Viking Mfg. The problem was, he never really finished it and left the final design to me. I put the prototype away and forgot about it until I began going through some of the boxes in the Viking Magic Vault. It has taken over a year to figure out Richard's notes, and while incomplete, I remembered the routine he wanted and thus finally completed the Impossible Die Box.............George Robinson Jr.

The IDB is manufactured by Viking/Batra Productions and is an exquisite example of the work being done by our new union. A flawless finish adds to the unique nature of the IDB. The following is an example of the effect possible.

The Effect: At the start, the magician removes the front and rear panels of the chest, revealing a captivating skeletal framework. The chest stands empty, ready for magic. With a flourish, he replaces the doors and presents two dazzling oversized dice.

The act takes a comical turn as the magician jokingly claims the dice are swapping places inside the chest. Each time the doors are pulled open, the audience questions the sanity of the performer. He then takes one out, sliding it behind a playful cardboard screen.

In a delightful twist, he performs the classic sucker routine, making the remaining die appear to travel from one side of the chest to the other, giving the impression that the die has vanished. With a snap of his fingers, he removes the front panels, but the large die has really vanished!

Removing the back and side panels, he exposes the thin, empty framework. Lifting the cardboard screen, he astounds the audience by revealing both dice stacked one atop the other, their clever plot delighting everyone in attendance! 

The dice measure 4" sq.

The Chest measures: 9 1/2" x 6" x 6". This includes a removable base.
