Rare facsimile of the first English language catalog.
The W.H.M. Crambbrook Company was established in 1841 in London, as purveyors of magic effects and equipment. Crambbrook's Catalog was first published in 1843. It constitutes the first English-language catalog ever printed and was released, according to the author, "In compliance with the wishes of several gentlemen, and being anxious to please numerous patrons..." Among them was Charles Dickens.
The first edition, a slim work, has been lost to antiquity. The second edition has survived, but just barely. Collectors' Workshop obtained the original catalog, the only confirmed copy existing in the world, through the generosity of the Burton & Sperber Collection. Mr. Sperber kindly lent his copy so as to share this priceless manuscript with the magic fraternity and in so doing, to preserve the legacy of the art.
Limited to 300 copies, only a few remain unnumbered editions. Once they are gone, there will be no more.
